Happy 2025! I pray that you rang in the New Year with people that you love and care about. And I hope you used the day to put your feet up and readied yourself to have an incredible year!
My 2025 did not start off like it has in the past, but I think I needed a complete shake up to happen in my world. No, it was definitely not celebration worthy, but it was needed. I won’t go into detail, so please don’t ask.
Back around 2015 or 2016, I stopped making New Year’s resolutions. They were well-intentioned, but I would find myself coming to the end of every year and seeing only one thing fulfilled out of my list, and I would get upset with myself. What kind of mess is that? Resolutions were not working, at least for me.
And according to different polls and surveys out there, resolutions don't work for the general public, either. In fact, we hear about (or see it for ourselves) gyms packed out during the first week of the year. By February, there are not many people left in the gym. Same thing with finances, relationships, career, and other resolutions people make. They just don't last for the whole year.
Back to resolutions.
So what happened in my case?
There was an entrepreneur who shared that he did a “word of the year”. He would choose a word and make that the way he lived his life throughout the year. I decided to do the same. It was simple - how do you plan to live your life, summed up in ONE WORD? It has been helpful to have that word to ground me for the year. I would check in each week to make sure I would be on track.
In 2025, my word is RISE.
No matter what the situation, I will find a way to rise to it, or rise above it. If negativity or obstacles hit, I wont let myself stay there too long. I am rising up everywhere, not just in my fitness. I will rise just like Maya Angelou.
What is the word you feel will summarize your 2025? Start using that word to ground you on a weekly basis.
Speaking of RISE, I am challenging myself with BODi LAVA. The sample workout kicked my tail. If you want to check it out and do this with me, .click this link.
