Life is Short- Eat Dessert First


So if you haven’t heard the big news yet, let me share it with you.

Team Beachbody is rebranding in 2023. They are going to be named BODI in order to not be so focused on the “idyllic” shape of someone (having that Beachbody). Instead, the focus has changed to the overall health of someone - physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially (if you so choose). 

I am all for it.


Because of my own story.

My mindset was the driving force behind my first weight loss journey back in 2007. I wanted to get to a point where my blood pressure was down to normal without me taking any prescription meds with the high cost and all the crazy side effects. I wanted to feel good, period.

And between 2007 and 2014-ish, I did just that. Got the weight down and the BP down on my own. No prescriptions needed.

However, I couldn’t sustain my goal when stuff started getting overwhelming in life. I put aside myself and my own needs so that my family could make it through some serious issues. When we made it to the other side, I looked up and didn’t recognize my own self. I was MUCH larger than the starting point of my first weight loss journey, and my blood pressure had gone back to being elevated most of the time.

My mind had to get back on track in order for my body to do the same.

Team Beachbody saw this too, and wanted to be sure that NO ONE had to go through their journey alone. That tools were available to meet the needs of the community. And if dessert was needed, then recipes were available to help with that.


Losing weight is hard. Regulating all the health numbers is just like having another job. Making time for exercise and time to figure out what foods to eat is overwhelming. If we are not careful, our minds will talk us out of continuing the fight. Your mind will start justifying the “little things” that throw you off track. 

Here’s the good news…

When you give your body small goals, like eating a healthy dessert after you enjoy balanced meals for a few days, then your mind is more likely to stay motivated to achieve that goal.

Time for a recipe - and since we are having dessert first, this is a good one.

Chocolate Covered Cherry Ice Cream

1 packet Chocolate Vegan Shakeology

1/2 cup frozen dark cherries

1 cup almond milk (unsweetened, vanilla, or chocolate flavors all work great)

3 Tablespoons chocolate sauce (optional but indulgent)

1/2 cup frozen avocado

2 cups ice

In a blender, add all ingredients. Pulse for 30 seconds to start the ice breakdown, then blend for at least 1 minute to combine all ingredients together. Check consistency and blend an extra 15-30 seconds if needed to get mixture to a thick creamy state. Scoop into a dessert bowl and serve. So delicious!!
